چکیده

Charged excitons in doped extended Hubbard model systems. Abstract We show that the charge transfer excitons in a Hubbard model system including nearest neighbor Coulomb interactions effectively attain some charge in doped systems and become visible in photoelectron and inverse photoelec-tron spectroscopies. This shows that the description of a doped system by an extended Hubbard model differs substantially from that of a simple Hubbard model. Longer range Coulomb interactions cause satellites in the one electron removal and addition spectra and the appearance of spectral weight if the gap of doped systems at energies corresponding to the excitons of the undoped systems. The spectral weight of the satellites is proportional to the doping times the coordination number and therefore is strongly dependent on the dimension.

2 7 N ov 1 99 9 A possible role of D − band in hopping conductivity and metal - insulator transition in 2 D structures

A simple two-band model is suggested explaining recently reported unusual features for hopping magnetoresistance and the metal-insulator transition in 2D structures. The model implies that the conductivity is dominated by the upper Hubbard band (D-band). Experimental studies of hopping magnetoresistance for Si δ-doped GaAs/AlGaAs heterostructure give additional evidences for the model.

A pr 1 99 4 The Density Matrix Renormalization Group for Fermion Systems

We discuss techniques of the density matrix renormalization group and their application to interacting fermion systems in more than one dimension. We show numerical results for equal–time spin–spin and singlet pair field correlation functions, as well as the spin gap for the Hubbard model on two chains. The system is a gapped spin liquid at half–filling and shows weak algebraic d-wave–like pair...

Pressure Tuning of Competing Charged and Neutral Exciton States in Quasi-2D Semiconductor Structures

Photoluminescence studies of neutral and charged excitons in modulation doped GaAs/Al0.3Ga0.7As quantum wells are performed as functions of applied pressure, temperature, and excitation power and frequency. Varying both pressure and incident power allows sensitive selection of the different exciton transitions. The G±X crossover in the barriers at 7 to 9 kbar accelerates photo-pumping of electr...

Interchain coupling effects on dynamics of photoexcitations in conjugated polymers.

Within an extended Su-Schrieffer-Heeger model including interchain interactions and the extended Hubbard model, the dynamical relaxation of photoexcitations in two coupled conjugated polymer chains is investigated by using a nonadiabatic evolution method. Initially, one of the two chains is photoexcited and the other chain is in the dimerized ground state. Due to the interchain interactions, th...
